A huge THANK YOU to each of our Ridge residents who volunteer regularly or now and then to support our community!

What We Do

  • Forestry Chair is Wildfire Mitigation Lead for the Bergen Park Ambassador for Wildfire Planning

  • Follow forestry management guidance from Colorado State Forest Service

  • Share Wildfire Mitigation guidance for Homeowners from Evergreen Fire/Rescue and other organizations

  • Continue to develop and nurture our resident-volunteer Forestry Team

  • Create fire breaks by masticating (chewing up) trees and bushes in strategic locations

  • Host volunteer days to help remove slash (branches, cut trees, vegetation) from Open Spaces

  • Schedule resident slash pickup days so folks can remove wildfire fuel from their property at no cost

  • Reduce intensity of wildfires by removing smaller trees that are starved for light and water

  • Work to identify and eliminate Ponderosa Pine Trees with Mountain Pine Beetle infestations to help prevent spread

  • Work to identify and minimize Ponderosa Pine Tree Dwarf Mistletoe infestations to help prevent spread

  • Create safer evacuation routes by removing threatening trees and bushes from Ridge owned property

  • Make homeowners with property adjacent to evacuation routes aware of suggested actions to take to enable safer evacuations for the community

Our Responsibilities

  • Manage forests in our open spaces

  • Identify diseased and dying trees

  • Implement prescriptions for diseased trees

  • Increase awareness and education of our neighbors on how to action to reduce the probability of wildfire-induced loss of our homes

  • Thin tree density to reduce probability of crown-to-crown fires and to enable more healthier trees

  • Mitigate potential wildfire damage from our open spaces

  • Help ensure wildfire evacuation roads are safer for residents to depart area during wildfire

  • Protect wildfire evacuation roads from radiant heat from burning trees and falling branches so vehicles can more safely depart
